Having been developing in our office in Gdansk has shown us that this relocation was an excellent idea and that it was worth the wait. Communications within the team have never been easier since everyone is in the same place rather than spread all around the globe, and Gdansk is a great hub for skilled developers, meaning that expanding our team is not too big a challenge. Our work environment and amazing team have allowed us to exceed expectations and we are now ahead of schedule with the development.

This week has marked the beginning of tests that we run to ensure that we are on the right track. Our team of developers has begun to test the efficiency of the system by calling a large number of endpoints to the upload and playing of each track. We will inform you of the results in the next update.

To manage the state of the web app we have implemented Redux (redux.js.org), which is used for the web player component. Furthermore, we have expanded more of the database structure; using the StrongLoop framework, we have uploaded the basic data and constructed models in API corresponding to the database tables.

In the web player, we have included a demo version of each track, wherein the user can listen to a fragment from the middle of the track for free, and the ‘shuffle’ function for playlists. We have also built upon the ‘upload’ function to include assigning an artist and album to each song, and the option to edit the remaining metatags.

Over the next two weeks, we are planning to start working on encrypting all the files, figuring out issues related to payments using cryptocurrencies, and continuing to test the efficiency of the system.

Please keep sending us questions for the Q&A we will publish next Monday using our form, Discord, Telegram, or via e-mail at info@opus-foundation.org, and don’t forget to follow our progress on Facebook and Twitter.
