We have decided to release the beta version as they are in order to test them out with as large a group of users as possible in order to receive as much feedback as we can, and we greatly appreciate all the response we have received so far.

While the beta versions might still be a bit rough around the edges, OPUS is one of the world’s first functioning implementations of the blockchain and still in an experimental stage. All the feedback has been very helpful, and we are continuing to improve the player to ensure that the v1.0 release goes smoothly.

The greatest advantage of releasing the beta is that we opened it up for real world stress tests, for collecting various track formats and data from artists, and for receving feedback about our UX from users in close to realistic conditions.

Progress

All together, we have collected 101 issues on all our platforms combined, of which 36 have been closed so far, that is just over 35% of all the bugs have been fixed since the release.

Errors resolved and still to fix

For reference, the web player was released 15 days ago, on Monday 4th June, and the mobile apps 10 days ago, on Saturday 9th June, which means we have had considerably longer to work on the web player. During the week, we expect to fix the majority of issues for both web and mobile, and hope to fix them all within the next few weeks.

Some of the biggest resolved issues include:

  • ironing out the account activation process
  • freezing pages
  • failing to create an account
  • improving network configuration

Some of the biggest things we still need to work on:

  • web player
  • uploading music
  • centering the load screen
  • some songs do not play in their entirety
  • approving artists

There are, of course, a range of other issues, but these cover the most important ones.

Future Plans

With almost a third of all the reported bugs and errors fixed, we will be testing the app and gathering more feedback over the coming weeks. After one month of live beta version being online, we will decide about any major architectural elements changes. Then we will inform our community about the next beta release.

We recognize the importance of appearing on exchanges for the benefit of our users, who will have easier access to our tokens and, as a consequence, to the services offered by the OPUS Player. As such, we will discuss in depth any plans regarding exchanges when we launch OPUS on the Ethereum main network.

There will be updates every two weeks from now on, alternating between Q&A sessions and Development Updates.
