Welcome to our third Q&A session, again including a short video from our office in Gdansk. We have received lots of feedback from our community regarding the last video Q&A, so we decided to listen and to act on this feedback by posting another video. This Q&A was not scheduled which is why it is a bit shorter than usual; however, this session will not replace any other one but will rather be an extra one. Our next Q&A will go ahead as scheduled on Monday, the 15th January, and it will be a full length session.

It is really amazing to see that our community is very active and enthusiastic, and is willing to provide this feedback. We look forward to engaging in more constructive discussions on Discord and Telegram. Please, don’t forget to send us more questions for our next Q&A session on our form, Discord, Telegram, or via e-mail at info@opus-foundation.org.

Here is the video:

As usual, we have also written up answers to all your questions below:

1. Has the team of developers started working on developing the platform?

Yes, development is going ahead with full speed from our office in Gdansk, Poland, and our developers are directing all their efforts into delivering the platform the way we envisioned it.

2. Are the Opus apps for iOS/Android already in development? When will they be ready for release?

We are not quite there just yet as currently we are focusing on the core of the Opus platform which is API. Development of the iOS/Android Opus apps will begin soon and we are looking at a Q2 2018 release of the 0.5 version. We have not yet figured out a release date for the 1.0 version of the apps.

3. How many people are on your team?

At this time, we have eight team members working on the Opus platform full-time:

  • Bokang Jia
  • Chenchao Xu
  • Mateusz Mach
  • Philipp Siemek
  • Konrad Szałapak
  • Tomasz Szafran
  • Mateusz Gruszka
  • Krzysztof Mosakowski

We are also collaborating closely with various freelancers in a range of fields, so as to work as efficiently as possible

4. As an artist, as the price of the Opus token fluctuates, will I be able to set my prices in regular currency so that it will convert automatically into Opus tokens? How will you address potential OPT/USD volatility?

Most likely. From a technical standpoint, this is certainly achievable; however, from a business perspective, we are still analyzing various options. This is a very important issue and there are lots of aspects to consider, but for now, this will probably be the case. We will update you more on this topic at a later time.

5. Will you be making updates on GitHub?

We have noticed that there is an increasing amount of competition in music streaming and the blockchain, so we most likely won’t be publishing all of our code and we won’t be developing in the open. This decision is not final and is subject to change, but that’s the conclusion we have reached for now.

6. Will Opus try and add big star artists or will the focus be primarily on indie musicians?

Currently, it is somewhat too early to get in touch with more established artists, but once the platform is completed and tested, we will be contacting super-star artists and hopefully get the opportunity to work with them.

Keep the questions coming!

We really appreciate all the questions we have been receiving, but don’t forget to send us more on our form, Discord, Telegram, or via e-mail at info@opus-foundation.org. You can also track our progress on Facebook and Twitter. Be sure to watch out for the development update coming out on Monday!
