There has been a lot of progress since our last development update. The API for user registration and logging in has been built and implemented in the web player. There has also been significant work with the administration of a user’s session on the platform, using the JSON Web Token. Furthermore, we have been researching various DRM architectures and conducting further tests of IPFS, and Nginx has been added as the SSL proxy layer for the API and the web player.

The Opus apps are really starting to take shape. Our team of developers has created the main screen for both the web and mobile apps, as well as implemented the log in with Google using Firebase authentication.

We have integrated the Ethereum Light Wallet package into the platform to allow users to create a wallet securely and subsequently process payments on the platform. With this method, the private key never leaves the user’s computer and security is not compromised.

For the next two weeks, we are planning to complete the main screen on the Opus apps for iOS and Android, work on processing payments in Ethereum, and examining payments with Bitcoin.

KVRBXN

The latest artist to join us at Opus is KVRBXN (pronounced “carbon”). KVRBXN experiments in creating new sounding electronic music.

By manipulating samples, designing unheard-of synthesized sounds, layering ambient guitar and piano loops, and making glitchy drum patterns, KVRBXN creates a fresh new sound that he can truly call his own. His percussive drum patterns are heavy influenced by hip-hop and create a canvas for his psychedelic “soul sounds” to dance to. Occasionally, KVRBXN will lay some vocals on top of the instrumentals, with lyrics of optimistic rebellion against “the machine.”

Having gotten into music about four years ago while experimenting with various types of music software in college, it has become his greatest passion in life.

KVRBXN has already released numerous EPs and a range of “beat tapes” for fellow artists to work with. A new, very experimental, heavy electronic project is in the works as well.

A truly passionate artist, we are very excited to be working with KVRBXN, an amazing addition to the continuously growing list of artists on board with us at Opus. You can follow KVRBXN on Soundcloud.
